In 2008 FYTF received its first request for assistance for foster youth. The request was for laptops for college bound foster youth. Longtime family friend Ed Woods and his company, TerpSys donated 5 laptops and with the assistance of Reston Girls Scout Troop 3625, FYTF was able to provide 5 college bound foster youth with computers, computer bags, portable drives and $100 gift cards to Office Depot.

On May 20, 2005, Rohit Kishore pushed his wife, Malia right over the edge. That is to say he proved that even though he was incredibly busy he was listening to her random musings about the underserved foster teens preparing to age out of foster care.
