Providing the Basics in 2019

In 2019 we have been privileged to assist 15 foster youth ages 12-21. Can you guess our most popular request? Shoes. If you have kids or remember being a kid you probably recall the crazy growth spurts - the days you woke up and the shoes and clothes that fit you yesterday didn't fit you the next morning! Foster kids go through the same growth spurts but without the resources to acquire properly fitting clothing or shoes. This year we provided not only shoes, but hats, scarves, gloves and coats to foster youth, as well as school supplies. In one instance we provided basic baby items (onesies, blankets and sheets) to a young person expecting a baby just as she was preparing to age out of the foster care system.
